An evening to explore what’s in it for us as men
In this fast-paced distracted world, it is easy to lose sight of what is important to us. How do we ensure our lives are more purposeful and peaceful? Talking about what really matters to us in a safe, respectful environment can help us do this. There has been great progress at Manly Yoga for women to empower each other in a safe and respectful way. Yet it’s a bit out of balance for men!
Here’s an opportunity to redress that balance.
You are invited to an evening of honest, confidential discussion about how men navigate our lives. The forum is simple, safe and up to us as to how we open up to the process of hearing and supporting ourselves, and each other.
It was in 1989 during a personal and business crisis that my inner journey commenced. I completed a series of personal development courses that transformed my perspective on how to navigate the highs and lows of life. Within months I was clearer, joyful and living in an ashram in India. An equally transformative experience.
As a young boy I had discovered the world renowned yoga teacher BKS Iyengar in the family encyclopedia. I was transfixed by the various yoga postures. How did he do that? It wasn’t until years later that I discovered there was more to yoga than the postures. Since then yoga has become an intrinsic part of my life.
My life experiences have helped me understand the importance of being a part of community, giving a sense of place, of assurance, of belonging. I became a student at Manly Yoga in 2015, after returning to live in Sydney. I joined Manly Yoga’s Management Committee in 2016, as Treasurer. Last year I had the honour of completing a Men’s Facilitator Training and now I am wanting to support other men to navigate their life course and to build community with them.
